Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Search Tools
A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates the search service. Rice County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The search provider receives the information needed to process the query and handles it under that provider's privacy policy.
Emails and Contact Messages
If you send an email or use a contact form, we retain the message and the contact details you provide so we can read and answer it. Messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law. Do not send sensitive personal records, identification documents, or private case material through an ordinary message.
Technical Information Collected
Like most websites, our systems and service providers receive routine technical data when a page loads. This information supports delivery, security, diagnostics, and general traffic measurement. It may include:
- the visitor's internet protocol address;
- browser name, type, and version;
- device category and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent on them;
- the referring website, when available; and
- request dates and timestamps.
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies may be used to understand how visitors move through the site and to support analytics or advertising functions. A browser can reject or delete cookies through its settings. Blocking them may cause some features, preferences, or partner services to work differently.
How Information Is Used
Collected information is used only for operating, understanding, and protecting the service. Those uses include:
- keeping pages available, responsive, and secure;
- sending search requests to the appropriate partner;
- learning which Rice County record pages visitors find useful;
- detecting errors, abuse, and other technical problems; and
- displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests.
Government and Outside Links
Links may lead to the Rice County Sheriff and Jail, Minnesota DOC, Community Corrections, Minnesota courts, VINE, federal custody locators, public-record resources, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows an outside link, the destination's terms and privacy policy control. Rice County Released Inmates does not set or manage those outside practices.
Advertising partners may use their own cookies or related technologies to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs through the partner's systems. Visitors should review the privacy and opt-out tools supplied by the relevant provider.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be disclosed or transmitted when needed for site functions or legal compliance, including to:
- search partners that receive and process submitted queries;
- analytics providers that measure site use;
- advertising networks that deliver and evaluate ads; and
- law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Data Safeguards
We use standard administrative and technical practices intended to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No website, network, storage system, or internet transmission can be guaranteed fully secure. This notice therefore does not promise that a breach, interception, or technical failure can never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted personal information may use the Contact Us page to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the nature of the data, a visitor may ask us to:
- provide a copy of personal information we hold;
- correct personal information that is inaccurate;
- erase personal information that may be deleted; or
- stop certain forms of processing where an opt-out right applies.
These choices concern information controlled by this site. Requests involving government data held by Rice County or Minnesota agencies must follow the originating office's process, including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act where applicable.
Changes to This Notice
This Privacy Notice may be revised as site practices, service providers, or legal requirements change. An updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised notice applies to later activity.
